Mommy Brain

Mommy brain is literally a real thing and I experience it multiple times a day whether I am at home or at work.

Just this morning, I woke up at 6:00 like usual, went downstairs to warm up Noah’s bottle and get things ready for the day. We make his bottles the night before using a pitcher and to warm them the next day, we use a large cup with hot water in it and let the bottle sit for 5-7 minutes or so. There was no hot water. A short backstory, we had a gentleman come to the house yesterday to fix a small gas leak in a pipe in the basement and he must’ve turned off the hot water heater as well.

I stood in the kitchen with an already prepared bottle in my hand that was freezing cold from being in the refrigerator all night. I let the bottle try to warm up in somewhat warm water but it did not do too much in the way of warming it. My husband set the coffee pot to start at 6:00AM and it was just finishing so I thought I’d put the cool bottle up to the burning hot coffee pot, but it still did not do too much to warm it up.

Meanwhile, my husband was in the basement trying to see why we had no hot water. I finally said, forget it and went upstairs to get Noah from his crib, change his diaper and give him his bottle. The bottle was not freezing but it wasn’t necessarily “warm.”

As Noah and I are sitting on the couch and he is drinking his bottle, my husband came up from the basement and mentioned that he fixed it by turning the hot water heater on. I told him that the baby’s bottle was not warm but it was OK and did not seem to bother him. My husband then said, you know babe, you could have heated some water in the microwave quick. “LIGHTBULB!” Why didn’t I think of that? After he finished his bottle, we held hands as Noah walked to his play area, and up to a cold shower I went.

So, potty training, did not go as planned, but that is perfectly OK. As I mentioned and discussed in the last blog post, I was all prepared, mentally ready, and going to start potty training, what I t
